Depression Therapy Options in Hillsboro

Hillsboro is a top spot to visit or call home in Oregon, but depression is a problem that plagues many people in the city itself and beyond its borders. Depression is a global issue, but it frequently goes undiagnosed and untreated.  People who try to ignore depression may inadvertently do more harm than good, as its symptoms can quickly escalate and cause long-lasting harm.

People coping with depression may experience feelings of sadness, emptiness, and hopelessness that linger for an extended period of time. They may also be prone to insomnia or sleeping too much, fatigue, weight gain or loss, and headaches. Depression that goes unaddressed may become too much to handle, and over time, may make people increasingly susceptible to recurring thoughts of suicide or death as well.

In instances where people experience depression but are unsure about what to do about it, they should explore medical treatment options. If people dealing with depression symptoms meet with a doctor, they can find out if they qualify for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy or other depression treatments.

A Closer Look at Hillsboro TMS Therapy

TMS treatment in Hillsboro is available from Achieve TMS, a depression therapy leader. We offer TMS at our Beaverton office, which is located approximately 20 minutes from Hillsboro.

Our Beaverton office is staffed by medical clinicians and technicians who put our patients first. Our patients are our top priority, and we dedicate the time, resources, and energy to ensure that each one is fully supported as they pursue treatment for depression.

When a patient first visits our Beaverton office, our clinicians perform an evaluation. This allows us to determine if a patient can benefit from TMS. If so, we develop a plan to help the patient maximize the benefits of TMS.

With a treatment plan in place, we set up days and times for a patient to receive TMS therapy. We typically ask our patients to come to our Beaverton office five days a week for six weeks, with each treatment session requiring 20 minutes to complete.

A TMS treatment session involves the placement of an electromagnetic coil on a patient’s head, near the left temple. Next, the patient receives magnetic pulses to their brain via the coil. TMS is noninvasive, and the treatment’s magnetic pulses are gently sent to their brain. The patient also remains seated in a comfortable chair throughout their therapy session where they are encouraged to relax.

After a TMS session, a patient can leave our office under their own volition. Patients may experience a minor headache or slight discomfort after the first few treatments, and they can immediately resume their normal activities.
